Armin Luistro (leftmost) and Metrobank Foundation, Inc. (MBFI) President Aniceto SobrepeƱa (4th from left).

The National Teachers' Month (NTM) Coordinating Council recognized City Savings Bank (CitySavings) as one of its partners in the recently held Partners Appreciation Night hosted by the Department of Education (DepEd) and Metrobank Foundation, Inc. (MBFI) last March 01 at the GT Tower International Penthouse, Makati City.

Last year, the bank generously committed and supported the 2015 NTM celebration in its mission to empower Filipino teachers and the teaching profession. CitySavings partnered with Coalition for Better Education (CBE) in the 21st Century Teacher Forum last September 02, 2015 where an alumnus of the bank's signature Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative, Project TeACH (Teach, Aspire, Challenge, Help), Michael D. Morella a public school teacher from Pinagbuhatan High School in Pasig City shared how the program helped him become a teacher-innovator and equipped him with skills through technology integration in the learning environment by weaving it into authentic, project based learning (PBL) activities. The bank's 84 branches also held a simultaneous creative event activation last October 03 wherein more than 2,000 public school teachers were delighted with special snacks, various giveaways, thank you messages and songs of appreciation.

The bank's initiatives during last year's National Teachers Month and World Teachers Day was included in NTM Secretariat's Philippines report submitted to UNESCO Paris on the nation's activities for teachers.

DepEd Secretary Bro. Armin Luistro, who has untiringly supported and brought the NTM celebration to greater heights for the past years, said in his closing message, "If you look at what we have done beyond our imagination, we actually built a nation. By beginning to thank teachers, we brought new vigor to people who are in this job. My hope is that it will be embedded in the heart of every Filipino to say thank you to at least one person who made a difference in their lives."
