UnionBank’s Heroes and Champions Awards is the highest level of recognition in UnionBank for team members who have exhibited the values and brand attributes of the organization. The program was institutionalized 8 years ago as part of the organization’s effort to engage employees and recognize people for their contributions.

Each year, nominations are gathered from various groups and units in UnionBank, and for the first time in 2020, it was opened to highlight the successes of its subsidiaries as well. The nominations are vetted at the level of the UnionBank Mancom with the participation of the Chief Executive Officers of City Savings Bank and UBX.

CitySavings won awards under the following categories: Top Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Initiative for Project Pink and Project ₱er@parasyon (Peraparasyon), Agile Innovator Award for Motorcycle (MC) Loan Ranger App, and the President's Award for the Polaris App. The awarding ceremony was held at the Metrotent Convention Center, Pasig City last January 24.

The CSR and Sustainability Award recognizes teams whose efforts have greatly contributed to driving the banking group’s purpose of greater financial inclusion and sustainability. Project Pink is one of CitySavings’ CSR initiatives that contribute to the health and well-being aspects of Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) specifically in the area of reducing mortality from non-communicable diseases. Project Peraparasyon, on the other hand, is another homegrown CSR program that is instrumental in strengthening the bank’s advocacy on practical wealth management to educators and non-teaching personnel across the country.

The Agile Innovator is awarded to teams who smartly leveraged its existing products, services, and solutions to come up with an integrated solution that deepened customer engagement and elevated client relationships. CitySavings’ MC Loan Ranger is a loan origination system for motorcycle loans that enables digital onboarding of customers via the Loan Ranger tablet. It enhances processing capability and quick credit scoring and provides the ability to track approval status which results in a seamless loan booking process.

The President’s Award is given to teams who did extraordinary work to meet the goals defined and measured in terms of process improvement and strategic cost management while maintaining or increasing productivity. CitySavings’ Polaris is a mobile app designed to guide the bank’s sales associates to prioritize key areas and accounts and enable them to sell, market, and collect in the most efficient way possible. Every customer touchpoint is digitally captured and summarized into performance reports.

“Each team member has the ability to do something extraordinary, make a difference to be of service to others, and become relevant to all stakeholders. The aim of the Heroes and Champions awards is to recognize People Excellence. We thank everyone for their contributions last year and we look forward to more individuals and teams from CitySavings qualifying and being awarded in the years to come.” shared Michelle Rubio, UnionBank’s EVP - Chief Human Resource Officer.
