CitySavings honors teachers during National Teachers’ Month

Last September 30 City Savings Bank (CitySavings) celebrated National Teachers' Day in simultaneous regional celebrations held at the Cuneta Astrodome for NCR based public school teachers and in Ateneo de Davao for Mindanao based public school teachers; and last October 05 at Tacloban City Astrodome for Region 8 attendees. Around five thousand public school teachers attended in each regional event. The celebration is in partnership with National Teachers' Month Coordinating Council and the Department of Education.

Last October 1 CitySavings' 106 branches nationwide offered special snacks, goodies , personalized bookmarks and button pins to teacher-clients, which was the bank's simple way to give honor to the teaching profession and to its major stakeholders – the public school teachers.

CitySavings also participated in the MEGA Cebu Month "My Mega Ma'am/Sir" in partnership with the Coalition for Better Education and Mega Cebu last September 30. The competition was open for all teachers both in private and public schools and was judged according to the number of FB likes and results of a panel interview conducted to each of the nominees. The Mega Ma'am Champion Dr. Rubilyn Pastrano from Punta Engano Elementary School and other winners were awarded last September 30, 2016 at the Ayala Terraces Cebu by Reputation Management Head Paula Ruelan together with DepEd Regional Director Juliet A. Jeruta, Ph. D.

2016 marks the first National Teachers' Day celebration by virtue of RA 10743 approved last January 29, 2016 by then Pres. Benigno Aquino III declaring the fifth day of October of every year as a day of appreciation for teachers.
