DepEd MIMAROPA is now #WeatherWiser

A group of educators from DepEd Romblon actively participates during their Weather 101 and Tropical 101 training by WeatherPhilippines in partnership with CitySavings.

285 DepEd Region 4B personnel are now weather wiser after learning basic concepts, processes and effects of different weather disturbances and rain-producing weather systems in the country. This after DepEd and its disaster risk reduction officers from Divisions of Oriental Mindoro, Calapan City, Occidental Mindoro, Palawan and Puerto Princesa, Marinduque and Romblon attended the Weather 101 and Tropical Cyclone 101 training last July 25, July 26, July 28, August 5, August 16 and August 18 respectively.

The objective of the training is to provide the participants groundwork for creating their own disaster preparedness programs to ensure business and life continuity after a typhoon. "The Weather 101 and Tropical Cyclone 101 training is very timely and informative. It gives us additional ideas we can use in making/revising our school Disaster Management Plan. In general, it made us weather wiser and the knowledge we gained can in turn be shared to our students, parents and community to make them disaster-ready", said principal Lucin Fruelda.

The partnership between CitySavings and WeatherPhilippines is driven by the commitment to promote better education and empower communities to build a weather wiser nation.

"Learning should not end in this training. It is better if you will apply what you have learned, and it is best if you can create something out of it. That is making a difference! That is learning with a mission!" shared Mr. Melchor M. Famorcan, Education Program Supervisor - Science, SDO-Romblon.
