CitySavings Sponsors 1st K-12 Education Forum in Cebu

Saturday, June 27, 2015

City Savings Bank in partnership with Cebu International School (CIS) successfully sponsored its 1st K-12 Education Forum in the CIS campus in Pit-os, Cebu City last May 11. Over 150 public school teachers from Cebu province attended the forum which provided them a variety of presentations on research-based best practices in teaching and learning, as well as a venue to exchange ideas in developing effective programs for students from pre-school through Grade 12.

The forum started with CIS Superintendent Tony Harduar formally welcoming the participants and said “Education is about learning, not teaching. Good teachers are the lifeblood of a successful school. It is not about how great a teacher you are, it is about what your students learn. Teachers must spark the flame of curiosity in every child they teach.”

The half day forum was divided in series of three session topics lasting 40 minutes each. The participants were asked to register ahead in the session topics they preferred and were interested to learn from.

Over 30 teachers from CIS volunteered as resource persons who passionately shared their knowledge and expertise to help support public school teachers and equip them with 21st century skills needed to implement the K-12 program as mandated by the Department of Education starting school year 2015 - 2016.

The education forum is part of the 90th year celebration of Cebu International School. CIS educators believe that they have a responsibility to live out the goals of recognizing and nurturing potential and empowering all members of the community to have a positive impact on our changing country and changing world.

CitySavings Reputation Management Team together with Colon branch marketing associates Claro dela Cruz and Amiel Emoricha manned the CitySavings booth during the forum.

CitySavings was a major sponsor in this event, alongside Globe Telecom and Ng Khai as minor sponsors.
