In celebration of National Teachers’ Month last September 02, City Savings Bank partnered with the Coalition for Better Education’s (CBE) in the 21st Century Teacher Forum held at the Meralco Little Theater, Pasig City.

With the theme Living the Dream: Becoming a 21st Century Teacher, the forum was a gathering of CBE trained teachers and educators from their past programs, one of which is CitySavings’ signature Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative Project TeACH (Teach, Aspire, Challenge, Help).

Project TeACH alumnus, Michael D. Morella a public school teacher from Pinagbuhatan High School, Pasig City shared how the program helped him become a teacher-innovator and equipped him with skills through technology integration in the learning environment and weaving it into authentic, project based learning (PBL) activities. Morella’s innovative project together with his group mates Mona P. Dela Cruz from Fortune Elementary School, Marikina City; Gerald A. Verbosidad from Malabon Elementary School, Malabon City; and Rene C. Malto from Parañaque National High School, Parañaque City entitled “Crumpled Energy” utilized paper waste to make paper charcoal. The program in turn engaged students in developing knowledge and skills through PBL.

The forum was well attended by public school teachers and educators from different parts of the country. Present also were some Project TeACH alumni as well as other CBE trained teachers from programs in partnership with One Meralco Foundation (OMF), Microsoft Philippines and Globe Telecom.

Dr. Nerissa Lopez, CBE President, congratulated the teachers and educators as well as the partner organizations for a job well done in making education engaging, effective and equipped for the 21st century.
