In preparation for school year 2015 – 2016, City Savings Bank participated in this year’s Brigada Eskwela through its 65 branches reaching out to a total of 177 public school beneficiaries nationwide. The Bank joined the Department of Education (DepEd) and the respective local government units during the program kick off last May 18.

Out of the 177 public school beneficiaries, 99 were from Luzon, 59 in Visayas, and 19 were from Mindanao. A total of over 600 CitySavings team members and volunteers did repainting as well as minor repairs to school buildings and facilities.

“We are blessed to have been a beneficiary of CitySavings for this year. This is of great help to the students and the school”, mentioned Welito Rosal, Principal of Leon Garcia Sr. National High School in Davao City.

“It’s the first time for CitySavings to be one of our stakeholders in our Brigada Eskwela. We are very happy and thankful for their generous donation”, shared Benzon German, Principal of Comembo Elementary School in Makati City.

A teacher from Bitlang Integrated School, situated in a mountain barangay in Cebu City said “Salamat sa CitySavings kay bisan layo amo skwelahan, inyo mi gi anhi ug gi tabangan (Thank you CitySavings because despite the distance of our school, you came here and helped”.

“This initiative is one of our major Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) projects which is aligned to our vision of being the neighbor of choice by giving back to the communities that we are operating in. Our CSR philosophy is based on the belief that “We can do well by doing good,” said Paula Ruelan, Reputation Management Head in one of her opening remarks during the kick off.

City Savings Bank has been part of this DepEd program since 2010. CSR has always been an integral part of how CitySavings does business and has always played an active role in helping our public schools through various education related initiatives and projects.
