CitySavings, Aboitiz Foundation turn over AGAPP kindergarten classrooms to Bohol, Ormoc & Tacloban

City Savings Bank in partnership with Aboitiz Foundation, & Aklat, Gabay, Aruga tungo sa Pag – angat at Pag – asa (AGAPP) Foundation turned over four (4) kindergarten classrooms to Bohol, Ormoc & Tacloban last September 24, 25, 30 & October 01, 2014.

The beneficiary schools were Guadalupe Elementary School, Carmen, Bohol; Mantalongon Elementary School, Sagbayan, Bohol; Ormoc City Central School, Ormoc, Leyte; & Sagkahan Elementary School, Tacloban, Leyte.

The turnover ceremonies were well attended by the officials from the Department of Education, local government, school principals, teachers & students. Ms. Paula Ruelan, Senior Brand Manager headed CitySavings together with Ms. Jeunesse Cabada, Reputation Management Specialist, Mr. Adrian Ruiz, Area Manager for Eastern Visayas, Mr. Carlos Molo, Branch Head for Tacloban, Ms. Rhoda Guillemer, Branch Head for Ormoc, Mr. Ramnyl Cahate, Branch Head for Tagbilaran, & Mr. Jose Molina, Officer in charge for Ubay. They were joined by Aboitiz Foundation led by Mr. Sonny Carpio, EVP & COO, along with Ms. Jowelle Ann Cruz, Manager for Luzon.



“We are so blessed. Daghan kaayo nangandoy, kaingon mi sa internet ra namo makit-an ning building-a but at long last naa na gyud building nga sama ani ka gwapa (Many of us have wished, we see these in the internet only but at long last, we see this beautiful building before our eyes)”, shared Ms. Jean Abid, former principal of Guadalupe Elementary School.

These kindergarten classrooms are a testament of CitySavings’ commitment to have a positive & meaningful contribution to the education sector. This is also in congruence with Aboitiz Foundation’s mission of “helping people help themselves”, to seek long term & sustainable projects & programs with the objective of transforming beneficiaries into proactive partners in the community.



In one of his messages, Mr. Carpio highlighted the vital role of educators in shaping one’s future, “Elementary is the foundation of a child’s education. To the teachers, impart values to your students. I consider you as the modern day heroes”, he said.

“CitySavings hopes that these new classrooms will serve as a more conducive learning environment that will inspire teachers to be better in their profession & will engage students to strive more in their studies because after all, they are our nation’s future”, added Ms. Ruelan.
