City Savings Bank, through its fifty one (51) branches nationwide participated during this year’s Brigada Eskwela last May 19 & May 26.

CitySavings has been part of the Brigada Eskwela of the Department of Education (DepEd) since 2010. The bank’s strong corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives to help public schools in the areas where our branches are located is aligned to the Aboitiz Group’s sustainability philosophy of “We can do well by doing good.”

Out of the 153 school beneficiaries this year, 88 schools were from Luzon, 48 were from Visayas & 17 from Mindanao. CitySavings employee volunteers were able to repaint 124 schools; did minor repairs (for covered path walk/waiting shed, study area & perimeter fence) to 12 schools; & provided major repairs (for school stage, doors, roofs, classrooms, & school buildings) to 17 schools.

The activity was also an avenue to promote employee engagement in CSR initiatives. “It was really a well-spent time & educative experience for the whole team. In spite of the summer heat of the sun, we all find it very fulfilling to voluntarily render service in helping ensure that schools will always be a conducive learning place for a better & brighter future of the children”, a team of CitySavings Baguio volunteers remarked. A total of 579 team members nationwide volunteered & shared their time to make this year’s Brigada Eskwela successful.

A principal from one of the public school beneficiaries in Legaspi said that “We are thankful that CitySavings does not only grant loans but is a lending institution with a big heart.”
